Local Finance Benchmarking workshop and Inter-municipal Cooperation meetings

The Centre of Expertise for Local Government Reform within Good Governance Division, DG-II launched Local Finance Benchmarking activity in Armenia in 2015. As a result the Council of Europe toolkit was adjusted to local needs in 2016 and the II phase of piloting was done in the first half of 2017. The Reporting Local Finance Benchmarking (LFB) worshop is to be held on 4 July 2017 in Yerevan. This event is forseen to get the feed-back from those 7 pilot municipalities, as well as to identify who will host and handle the LFD&I database in Armenia developed by the Council of Europe for all 6 Eastern Partnership countries. All activities are implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Union of of Communities (Municipalities) of Armenia.

As well as further meetings with Inter-municipal cooperation experts are forseen to discuss over the state of implementation of Inter-municipal Cooperation (IMC) initiatives by those two grantees from Armenia.

Overall goal of this activity is to assist national and local governments in improvement of the financial management at the local level, financial decentralisation and foster cooperation in line with the on-going territorial reform in Armenia.

The event is organised as a part of the programme "Strengthening Institutional Frameworks for Local Governance in the Eastern Partnership countries" under the Partnership for Good Governance (former PCF) for 2015-2017 funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Council of Europe.
