Launching conference on human rights training in Azerbaijan

The launching conference of the project 'Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Azerbaijan' was held in Baku on 24 February 2015. This project is part of the new European Union and Council of Europe Programmatic Cooperation Framework (PCF) for Eastern Partnership countries.

The project objectives were presented by European Union and Council of Europe officials and discussed by the participants including government representatives from the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan Republic, Judicial Legal Council, Justice Academy, Supreme Court judges, General Prosecutor’s Office, Collegium of Advocates and independent lawyers.

The participants provided positive feedback about the project plans and reiterated their readiness to support and participate in the activities. Two common remarks came both from the authorities and the bar association representatives: the planned training activities are indispensable for registered lawyers, and the project should cover the country’s regions as well.
