On Thursday, 8 November, the Council of Europe and the European Union will present to media in Kyiv the results of their projects for Eastern Partnership countries, including Ukraine.
The six country-specific projects carried out in Ukraine under the Partnership for Good Governance in 2015-2018, focused on strengthening human rights standards, protecting national minorities, penitentiary reform, freedom of media, fighting corruption, and supporting free and fair elections. The total budget of these projects is 4.4 million Euros. The projects are funded by the EU and the Council of Europe, and are implemented by the Council of Europe.
In addition to these country-specific projects, Ukraine also participates in 14 regional initiatives covering all Eastern Partnership countries.
Verena Taylor, Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes, Council of Europe; Martin Klaucke, Head of Operations "Good Governance and Democratisation”, European Union Delegation in Ukraine; Mårten Ehnberg, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will present the projects and reply to questions from media representatives.
Journalists are invited to the presentation that will take place from 15:30 to 16:00 local time on Thursday, 8 November 2018, at Hotel Fairmont - 1 Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska Street, Kyiv. There will be English-Ukrainian interpretation.
