Combating nationality discrimination in Moldova

On 11 March 2016 the Council of Europe organised a one-day training course for the staff and members of the Moldovan Council for Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality and the staff of the Ombudsperson Office from Chisinau. The aim of the training course was to familiarise the participants with the topic of discrimination based on nationality/citizenship.

The training course was delivered by international consultants Ms Ivana Roagna and Mr Constantin Cojocariu.

The training course included the consultants’ presentations, aimed at providing the participants with some knowledge on the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and of the European Social Charter in the field of discrimination on grounds of nationality/citizenship. Also, the participants had the oportunity to discuss case studies from the perspective of discrimination. The training course was attended by 20 participants.

The training course was organised in the framework of the EU/CoE Joint Project "Supporting national efforts for prevention and combating discrimination in Moldova", which is funded through CoE-EU Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
