Regional Support to Inclusive Education

Specific project’s objectives
  • To strengthen teachers’ competencies for implementation of activities in order to provide  high quality educational support to pupils with  disabilities and frequent usage of computers and other technology in all classes for all pupils;
  • To create simulative learning environment for all pupils, but primarily for pupils coming from marginalized groups and families with low socio-economic status through development of programs for better integration and adapting and equipping school premises
Project’s main activities:
Raising awareness activities:
  • Agency for marketing and advertising, a specialist in drama and audiovisual advertising and media advertisements will raise the awareness of the public on inclusion and the project itself throuh following channels of communication:
    • - TV shows,
    • - Radio,
    • - School website,
    • - School magazine flyers,
    • - Posters and similar
Enhancing teachers’ professional competencies
  • Teachers who understand inclusive education practices have more understanding for pupils from marginalized groups. They are more capable to recognize children with special needs, from marginalized groups and to write Individual Educational Plans.
    Out of this reasons, for teachers will be organized:
    • - Lectures at school
    • - Improving knowledge about pupils with disabilities and difficulties
    • - Seminar Inclusion from theory to practice
    • - Visiting school for children with special needs “Milan Petrovic”, in Novi Sad.  About 8 to 10 teachers will learn how to define the children’s needs in easier way and use assistive technology and alternative ways of communication. These two schools will establish constructive cooperation. Defectologist and a logopedist of the school for children with special needs will provide support to the teachers.
Improving computer literacy of teachers
  • Seminar IT skills will be attended by 30 teachers who will more than earlier use computer in teaching, making the curriculum more interesting and close to pupils.
Creating friendly and welcoming environment at school  
  • Adapting the  room and connecting it to the library for workshops, extracurricular activities,  IT club, literary club, oratory club and similar  will create stimulating and learning environment for better integration of children from marginalized groups for activities.  The room will be equipped with necessary furniture, shelves, interactive board, computers enriched with stimulating didactic and learning material. Teachers trained in IT seminar will be competent enough to teach at this room in a more advanced way. The room will be open for all children, it will be.
  • Educating pupils and parents on health and healthy living through establishing cooperation with Health Care Center from Žabalj municipality 
Workshops for parents
  • This workshop will help parents to better understand and support the child with special needs. Lectures and meetings with parents will be a base for building network among them and creating mutual support.
Project’s target groups
  • Direct beneficiaries: 30 teachers, what is 57,7% of overall number of teachers;  pupils aged 7 – 14, pupils from marginalized groups (97 pupils, 18%)  and other pupils and parents of all pupils,
  • Indirect beneficiaries: 30 teachers, that is 57,7% of overall number of teachers and 97 pupils (18%) from marginalized groups, as well as other pupils; all pupils from our school, their parents and teachers
