Back The best interests of the child seen by Mediators and Ombudsmen
The Venice Commission organised, in co-operation with the Association of Ombudsmen and Mediators of the Francophonie (AOMF) and the Ombudsman of Morocco, a training workshop focusing on the best interests of the child. This training was held on 23-24 April in Rabat, Morocco and brought together the collaborators of Mediators and Ombudsmen of the AOMF network.
Participants discussed the issues and best practices of the institutions of Ombudsmen and Mediators concerning the best interests of the child with regard to legal procedures, institutional care and the inclusion of the child in a situation of disability.
The main mission of the Association of Ombudsmen and Mediators of the Francophonie (AOMF) is to promote the role of the Ombudsman and the Mediator in the Francophonie and to encourage the development and consolidation of independent mediation institutions in the Francophone environment. Through the holding of annual training courses, the Venice Commission has developed since 2013 close co-operation with the AOMF network. This is the largest regional network of Mediators and is currently chaired by the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco.
This activity was organised with the support of the South Progrmme V, a joint initiative between the European Union and the Council of Europe, co-financed by the two organisation and implemented by the Council of Europe.
