The North-South Centre is calling for applications for the French-language edition of the HEY course on sport "Towards responsible, safe, inclusive and ethical sport", which will run online from 30 June to 27 July 2025.
Through this course, developed as part of the HEY Programme in partnership with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the African Union Sports Council, 40 young people will have the opportunity to contribute to the evolution and positive impact of sport on individuals, societies and sustainable development. The call for applications for the course is open until 15 June 2025.
Are you a young person from Europe, Africa or the Middle East, involved in civil society and particularly interested in sport? Then this could be the opportunity for you.
Once you've successfully completed the online course, you'll be able to sign up for face-to-face tutor training and join a network of young change agents to organise regional and national courses like this one and spread the knowledge within your network!
The objectives of the course are as follows:
- Discover the links between sport and human rights, which provide an essential framework for building a world of sport that is more responsible, respectful of human rights, safe, ethical, inclusive and egalitarian; and raise awareness of the potential of sport as a tool for improving social well-being, integration, participation, peace and dialogue within our societies.
- Understand how the world of sport and human rights works, and develop the ability to apply human rights in the sporting context.
- To benefit from practical tools and recommendations to help participants apply their knowledge and become involved in the promotion, protection and implementation of human rights in sport, in particular through research, awareness-raising, political or social involvement, management, activism, etc.
- To promote the role of young people in contributing to the development and positive impact of sport on individuals, societies and sustainable development.
Topics covered
The course will cover the human rights framework related to sport; the sport ecosystem and its actors, structures, organisation and governance at national and international level; integrity in sport: personal, organisational and competitive integrity issues; as well as emerging issues related to sport.
The call for applications for the course is open until 15 June 2025 (23:59 UTC - Lisbon time), by completing this online form. The selection will be made by the North-South Centre Secretariat, with due regard to geographical balance and parity.
