Members of the Commission for the Evaluation of the Work of Judges and court presidents increased their knowledge and skills on various aspects of implementation of new rules on performance assessment of judges during a two-day training organised in co-operation with the High Judicial Council.

This event entails an integral part of the set of training sessions focused on improving practical application of the performance assessment framework for judges and court presidents. Members of the Commissions for evaluation of the work of judges amplified their understanding of the assessment criteria, indicators and decisions’ reasoning, including practical skills in the selection of data sources to enable uniformity of the evaluation process across courts.

The Manual on Evaluation of Work of Judges and Court Presidents, developed by the members of the High Judicial Council with the support of the Action was provided to the participants to enable practical exercises and a productive discussion on potential challenges. The High Judicial Council’ members provided in-depth explanations and practical exercises, enhancing the participants’ knowledge on the new rules in evaluating the work of judges and court presidents.

The impact of this activity is reflected in refining legal culture in Serbian judiciary through practical changes in judicial promotion and appraisal, aligned with relevant European standards. It was organised within the Action “Strengthening legal culture in Serbia and the capacities of the judicial and prosecutorial councils”, which is part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye.”
