With the request of University "Haxhi Zeka" in Peja/Peć a lecture on European Union, Council of Europe and European Court of Human Rights standards on Freedom of Expression and Hate Speech was organised in the framewrok of the International Human Rights Day.
The lecture was dedicated to law students from the bachelor and master's programs. International experts engaged for this lecture provided detailed information on basic principles and resources to freedom of expression as well as a presentation of the Council of Europe recommendation on combating Hate Speech.
The conflict of these two rights were thoroughly elaborated on by the those present which led to a lively discussion among students and experts.
The event was supported by the joint European Union/Council of Europe Horizontal Facility actions “Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media (JUFREX)” and “Promotion of diversity and equality”.
