Presentation of the reports “Attitudes of citizens towards discrimination in Serbia” and “Attitudes of the representatives of public authorities towards discrimination in Serbia”, prepared with the support of the joint European Union and the Council of Europe  action "Combating discrimination and promoting diversity in Serbia", will be held on Wednesday, 20 March 2024, starting from 11:00 AM in the Sava Center (MR 32 venue), in Belgrade.

The opening remarks will be given by:

• Brankica Janković – Commissioner for the Protection of Equality of Serbia
• Nadia Ćuk – Deputy Head of Office, Council of Europe Office in Belgrade
• Plamena Halacheva – Chargée d’affaires a.i., Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia

The research gives insights into the changes in the attitudes of citizens towards discrimination - the social distance between members of various groups, their familiarity with the legislative anti-discrimination framework and mechanisms of protection against discrimination.

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality will give press statements at 10:50h and the conference starts at 11:00h. The whole conference is open to media. Simultaneous English/Serbian interpretation will be provided.

The action “Combating discrimination and promoting diversity in Serbia” is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”.
