Accreditation of the Training Programme on Combating Antigypsyism for Public Servants in Montenegro

The training programme on combating antigypsyism, developed in cooperation with the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights of Montenegro and with the support of the European Union and Council of Europe Joint Programme Roma Integration Phase III, has been officially accredited. This accreditation represents a significant step forward in strengthening institutional responses to antigypsyism and promoting equal treatment and inclusive policies for Roma communities in Montenegro.

The programme provides a structured framework for public servants to understand antigypsyism as a distinct form of racism, exploring both its historical roots and its contemporary manifestations in institutions and society. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical tools, the training equips public officials with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, prevent, and address discriminatory practices.

The accreditation confirms that the programme meets established quality standards and is officially recognised by the competent authorities in Montenegro. This ensures that:

  • Public servants who complete the training will receive formal recognition and certification;
  • The programme can be integrated into the official capacity-building system of the Montenegrin public administration;
  • Its sustainability and credibility are guaranteed, embedding it within long-term institutional efforts to effectively combat antigypsyism.

By combining international standards with national priorities, and with the sustained support of the European Union-Council of Europe Joint Programme Roma Integration Phase III, this initiative is an important instrument for advancing the protection of human rights and strengthening inclusive governance in Montenegro.
