Cascade training seminars for judges and advocates

Two 2-day training sessions for advocates and judges were organized on 24-25 May in Guba and on 26-27 May in Baku on Articles 3, 6 and 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The training seminars were led by an international expert and future trainers of the Academy of Justice of Azerbaijan. By the end of the trainings, 22 advocates practicing in Guba city and nearby regions, as well as 24 judges of the first instance and appeal courts in Baku learned about the European human rights standards and application of the ECHR at the national level. The trainers of the Academy of Justice seized a chance to improve their trainer skills while delivering training for their peers. Both activities were positively assessed by the participants, who stressed the relevance of the discussed topics in their daily professional work.

The activities are organized in the framework of the project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Azerbaijan” that is part of the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus and is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
