KYRGYZSTAN– Discussions of the constitutional reform process within the meeting of the Venice Commission experts and civil society

On 6 April 2021, a meeting of the Donors’ Partners Coordination Council Working Group for Rule of Law and Human Rights for Kyrgyz Republic gathered together the Venice Commission experts, representatives of the Kyrgyz NGOs and national legal experts in order to discuss further constitutional reform process in the country.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged their views concerning the Joint Venice Commission/ODIHR Opinion on the Draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic which was adopted at the 126th Plenary Session and discussed the agenda of the upcoming referdum on 11 April 2021.

The present meeting and the Joint Opinion on the draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic were implemented in the framework of the action "Promoting efficient functioning of state institutions and public administration" within the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023 which is a joint initiative, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
