The Second Steering Committee meeting of the joint European Union and Council of Europe Horizontal Facility II Action on “Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings in North Macedonia” took place in Skopje on 10 December 2019.

The aim of the meeting was to examine the progress in the implementation of the Action’s activities, namely with regard to the capacity building of labour inspectors and access to state compensation to victims of trafficking, and to agree on future activities that will also focus on child trafficking, labour exploitation, research and capacity building of legal professionals.

The meeting, chaired by a representative from the European Union Delegation in Skopje, was attended by 17 participants, including representatives from the line ministries, national anti-trafficking commission, the newly appointed National Rapporteur on anti-trafficking, non-governmental and research organisations - which continue to provide active support to the Action’s implementation. The next meeting of the Steering Committee will take place in June 2020.
