In co-operation with the Justice Academy in Yerevan, four two-day training seminars on “Selected issues of the new Criminal (CC) and Criminal Procedure (CPC) Codes of Armenia” were organised for investigators and prosecutors of Armenia in July and August 2022. The objective of the training seminars was to introduce the participants with the structural changes of the new CC and CPC, to reveal the internal linkage of different provisions and ratio thereof.
For this purpose, the prepared materials included both previous and new regulations on each provision, presented in a comparative way. It enabled to pay the participants’ attention to the main innovations of the Codes to compare the existing and new provisions. In addition to the case studies and exercises, the participants were given an opportunity to raise the practical issues they faced during the period of application of the new Codes that entered into force on 1 July 2022. The active discussions on the new concepts and respective topics enhanced the participants’ knowledge on the new regulations and facilitated to finding the solutions to the raised issues.
The training seminars were organised in co-operation with the Justice Academy of Armenia in the framework of the project “Supporting the criminal justice reform and harmonising the application of the European standards in Armenia," funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance II 2019-2022.
