KAZAKHSTAN: International conference on Constitutional Justice, Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All

On 7-8 September, the Council of Europe and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan organised an international conference “Constitutional Justice: Dignity, Freedom and Justice for all.”

The conference was attended by high-level representatives of Constitutional Courts from more than 20 countries, as well as representatives of international bodies such as UNDP, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, OSCE, GIZ and IRZ.

During the conference, a variety of subjects were discussed, namely the role of constitutional control in promoting the values of human rights protection, the efficiency of constitutional control, as regards the respect of the rule of law standards, citizens’ access to justice and equal opportunities.

The Council of Europe’s experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Georgia, and Republic of Moldova made presentations on co-operation between Kazakhstan and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe in the field of constitutional justice, emphasising the experience of their countries and the Council of Europe’s standards.

This event was organised in the framework of the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2024* which is financed by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.

 

* The Programme was extended until June 2024.
