A three-day training on strategic analysis was organised to discuss the important role of strategic analysis in better understanding money laundering and terrorist financing patterns and trends to successfully prevent such threats. The thematic training through informative sessions and targeted practical exercises tailored to each stage introduced the financial intelligence practitioners to different stages of the strategic analysis process.
One of the key aspects in the focus of the event was the Information Technology tools and solutions to support financial intelligence analysis. Furthermore, the training provided a platform for discussions amongst various national stakeholders participating in the national and sectoral risk assessment processes on how to leverage strategic analysis for informing solid and efficient anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing strategies and priorities.
Finally, the message that came across the whole activity was the importance of interagency cooperation and sustained dialogue for aligning efforts and priorities to enhance the effectiveness of actions geared towards the global fight against financial crimes. The training provided national authorities with valuable insights for transforming strategic analysis products into actionable and impactful outcomes.
