Croatian Policy Team identifies challenges to inclusive education

Zagreb 20th February 2014

The Croatian Policy Team have outlined the issues and challenges of inclusive education in Croatia as part of the preparation for the Policy Net meeting in Sarajevo.

 

The discussion included the following topics relevant to Croatia:

  1. Well-designed measures and good practices
  2. Well-designed measures combined with poor practical implementation
  3. Measures that are lacking

Some of the challenges and issues this 10-person Policy team identified at their meeting in Zagreb at the end of February were:

  • improvement to initial teacher education,
  • cooperation between sectors and inadequate flow of information,
  • poor access to suitable equipment and aids,
  • underdeveloped support system for students with disabilities,
  • inclusion in the preschool system
  • cooperation between experts from various levels of education,
  • cooperation between parents and schools, etc.
