Thank you for your support in raising awareness on violence against women in Azerbaijan and #OrangeYourHome #OrangeTheWorld with the Council of Europe!

Today, on International Human Rights Day, our 16 Days of Activism against Gendered-based violence come to an end. Women’s rights are human rights and every woman has the right to live a life free from violence.

If you followed our Social Media during this campaign, you will be now aware of the importance of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) and why Azerbaijan should be a part of it.

Through several info graphics and a brochure, we have shown what the Istanbul Convention asks states to do in order to promote the human rights of women and make sure they can live a life free from violence. With its four-pillar system, with prevention of violence, protection of victims, prosecution of perpetrators, and co-ordinate policies to protect victims, the Istanbul Convention offers a unique path to end violence against women and domestic violence.

If you would like to know more about our activities to support the Azerbaijani authorities in their efforts to prevent and combat violence against women domestic violence, check our project page, or the PGGII website.

You can find our infographics here, and our brochure here.

The above action is implemented within the framework of the project “Raising awareness of the Istanbul Convention and other gender equality standards in Azerbaijan”, as part of the Partnership for Good Governance II programme, and is financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the latter.
