Call for participants: training course for journalists on combating hate speech in the audio-visual mass-media

The Council of Europe organises a training course on combating hate speech in the audio-visual mass-media for journalists from the Republic of Moldova. The training is organised around five sessions, on 17, 19, 21, 24 and 26 May.

By the end of the training course, participants will be able to:

  1. Develop their practical abilities in applying the instruments for preventing intolerance in the audio-visual mass-media
  2. Gain knowledge on the key concepts regarding the freedom of expression, non-discrimination and hate speech;
  3. Get familiar with international standards, provisions of national legislation, as well as the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights on the freedom of expression, non-discrimination and hate speech;
  4. Understand the relation between the freedom of expression and non-discrimination and hate speech in the journalistic activity.

Participation to the this training course is free and the sessions are held online and in Romanian.

The training course is organised in the framework of the project Promoting European standards in the audio-visual regulation of the Republic of Moldova and of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership”, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance Programme II.
