A delegation of the Palestinian National Authority, composed of Judge Ali J. M. Muhanna – Chief Justice, Ambassador Amal A. S. Jadou- focal point for the South Programme II, Judge Thuraya H. M. Alwazir – Director of the Palestinian Judicial Institute and Mr. Ahmad M. K. Harb – General Commissioner, Palestinian Independent Commission for Human Rights, visited the Council of Europe on 7-8 September 2015. Fruitful exchanges and discussions focusing in particular in areas such as regional co-operation; strengthening rule of law (e.g. the reform of the judiciary; the fight against corruption); and co-operation with the Venice Commission allowed to consider future developments of the co-operation between the Council of Europe and the Palestinian National Authority in such areas.
This visit took place thanks to the support of the EU-CoE joint programme “Towards strengthened democratic governance in the Southern Mediterranean “(South Programme II).
