The Council of Europe holds a seminar on its key conventions in Israel

Within the framework of the South Programme II, the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, organised a seminar on a selection of its core Conventions open to non-member States on 4-5 July 2017 in Jerusalem. The second of its kind*, the seminar is a crucial step in the process of Israel's prospective accession to more legal instruments of the Council of Europe.

More than 40 officials from relevant ministries were given the opportunity to have an in-depth look at the conceptual frameworks, measures and provisions of each convention. Some of the major elements covered were also the international cooperation under such instruments, the monitoring mechanisms and the accession procedures. This has been an occasion for constructive discussions, emphasising the main areas where collaboration could take place.

*The first seminar was held in 2014, within the framework of South Programme I.
