Four representatives of the Jordanian Intercultural cities participated in the “Social innovation for refugee inclusion” seminar which was organised in Brussels on 12-13 September 2016, by the European Council of Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) jointly with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the Council of Europe and its network of Intercultural cities, the United States Mission to the European Union (EU) and the Mission of Canada to the EU.
Through a series of workshops animated by speakers from civil society organisations, refugee groups, cities and private sector representatives, participants were brought to explore and discuss innovative measures and alliances which scale up successful social innovation programmes for refugee integration and inclusion. The added value of technology in facilitating refugee integration was discussed alongside topics covering structural solutions such as political change, housing and higher education needs of refugees.
