Within the frame of the South Programme II, 9 experts from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia have participated in the 46th annual study session of the International Institute of Human Rights on the theme “Children and international human rights law” organised in Strasbourg from 6 to 24 July 2015.
Under the direction of university professors, judges and diplomats specialised in children rights, the representatives of different ministries and of the civil society from countries in the southern Mediterranean region had the opportunity to improving and raising their academic qualification. The session has also provided a forum for debates and a sharing of experiences among the 300 participants from all around the world.
Alongside, a workshop organised on 21 July, by experts of children rights of the CoE with the participants from partner Southern Mediterranean countries has presented the 14 children rights' Conventions of the CoE, with a special focus on the Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (“Lanzarote Convention”). Similarly, a presentation of 410 concrete activities implemented since 2011 and of the CoE instruments and mechanisms has fostered great interest whilst opening new perspectives for co-operation.
