As part of its nationwide campaign launched on 30 March 2021, the Tunisian Ministry of Women, Family, Children and Seniors, in collaboration with the Council of Europe, pursued the dissemination of the awareness-raising kit on the rights of women victims of violence.
The campaign started with the distribution of 6000 kits countrywide in care facilities for women victims of violence.
As of 5 October 2021, the kit has been distributed in all regional delegations of the Ministry of Women, Family, Children and Seniors.
The kit was developed by the Ministry, in cooperation with the Council of Europe, as part of national efforts to combat all forms of violence against women in Tunisia. It aims at facilitating victims' access to their rights guaranteed by the Organic law n˚2017-58 of 11 August 2017 on the elimination of violence against women.
The kit is available in Arabic and in printable and electronic formats. It includes :
- A Booklet, entitled “I am not Alone”, on the rights of women victims of violence written in accessible language to raise awareness on the different forms of gender-based violence and on women's rights. The Booklet also provides useful advice and guidance for victims of violence on how to claim their rights and how to avoid risks of repeated abuse. It also presents the different structures and facilities where women, and children living with them, can find support.
- "Card" on the rights of women victims of violence which gives an overview on the rights and services stipulated in the Booklet.
10000 paper copies of the kit have been printed as part of the South Programme IV.
The South Programme IV is a joint programme of the Council of Europe and the European Union, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
