Back The Rule of Law Youth Network advances to the next phase as participants develop their projects

The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, with the support of the South Programme V, organised the third training session of the Rule of Law Youth Network (RoLYN) in Spain from 16 to 21 September 2024, as part of the 23rd University on Youth and Development.
The Rule of Law Youth Network advances to the next phase as participants develop their projects

Building upon the knowledge gained on CoE and international standards during previous trainings, the third session of the RoLYN capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening project development skills of the network’s members and providing support as they design and implement projects in their communities. Through those initiatives, RoLYN members will act as multipliers among their peers to address issues related to combatting corruption and protecting the environment.

Throughout the week, they enhanced their skills in various aspects of project management, including planning, budgeting, communication, risk management, and evaluation. After drafting their proposals, they presented their ideas to peers for collaborative inputs and refinement before submitting them for funding. They benefited from exchanges with Pilar Morales, Executive Director of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and coordinator of the Council of Europe Neighbourhood Policy with the Southern Mediterranean, Païvi Suhonen, Spokesperson and Media Officer from the Directorate of communication of the Council of Europe and Colin Spurway, Country Director, North Africa, BBC Media Action.

The residential trainings are complemented by online courses available on the Human Rights Education for Legal Professional  (HELP) platform.

More information about the RoLYN’s members projects will be published soon.

The activities of the RoLYN are supported by the joint programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe South Programme V, “Protecting human rights, the rule of law, and democracy through shared standards in the Southern Mediterranean” – co-financed by both organisations and implemented by the Council of Europe, and the North-South Centre's Peace YP programme. The programme promotes Euro-African cooperation to enhance youth participation for peace, with financial support from the governments of Malta, Portugal, and Spain.

The training was organised within the framework of University on Youth and Development (UYD) as part of iLEGEND III: Intercultural Learning Exchange through Global Education, Networking and Dialogue, a joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe, co-funded by the two organisations and implemented by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.
