The European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), in collaboration with the European Network of Justice Inspections Services (RESIJ) and the High Council of the Judiciary of the Kingdom of Morocco, organised the second regional conference of the South-Mediterranean Network of Justice Inspection Services on 3-4 July in Taghazout, Morocco. The network was established in May 2022.

This conference brought together representatives from the general inspectorates of justice from countries in the southern Mediterranean region (Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine*, Tunisia) and certain European countries that are members of RESIJ (Belgium, Spain, France, Portugal). It revolved around workshops focusing on ethics, personal freedom of expression for judges, their independence, and the requirements of their professional activities. Each inspection responded to the questions presented in the form of practical cases and exchange best practices for specific situations. 

The conference was opened by Mr Mohamed Abdennabaoui, President Delegate of the Supreme Council of the Judicial power of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr Abdellah Hammoud, Inspector General of Judicial Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, Ms Carmen Morte Gomez, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Rabat and Ms Roxana Petcu, the new President of the European Network of Judicial Inspection Services (RESIJ).
