Towards a better inclusion of young people in public life

The School of Political Studies of Tunisia organised, within the framework of the South Programme IV, a regional seminar entitled "Inclusion of young people in public life" from 27 June to 1 July 2022 in Hammamet, Tunisia with the participation of experts and young people from seven countries in the region, namely Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.

Starting from the constant of the low involvement of young people in public life and their lack of interest in public affairs, this seminar aimed to promote the exchange between participants, to deepen their knowledge on the different aspects related to the inclusion of young people through the exchange with experts and shared testimonies as well as the elaboration of concrete proposals favouring their inclusion in their respective societies.

During the different sessions of the seminar, the participants discussed the causes of the low inclusion of young people in public life. These exchanges allowed for the formulation of proposals on mechanisms and tools to promote the active participation of young people, including the economic inclusion of young people; their inclusion in national public policy-making processes and in the management of local affairs; as well as the use of new technologies for the inclusion of young people.
