Online library of practices
How do I search the collection of practices and resources?
A filter system is available on the right side, so that you can make your own selection by the main topic addressed, the country where the practice is implemented, the type of resource and the discipline.
Feel free to combine the different categories!
If you wish to undo the filters selected, click on the “reset filters” button at the bottom.
Note that some practices and resources are cross-sectorial and can appear more than once.
Requirement to get balanced leadership in federations
Organisation responsible:
High Council of Sport
Strategic field:
☒ Gender equality in leadership
Type of resource/practice:
☒ Legislation, policies, standards and guidelines
Target group(s):
☒ Spanish Sport Federations
Brief desciption of the resource/practice:
In 2014, the participation of women on the boards of Spanish Sports Federations was very low: only 133 women and around 600 men.
In order to increase the participation of women in the top positions of the Federations, since that year the High Council of Sport has established a new requirement for Federations to receive public funding from the High Council of Sport: to have 3 women or 33% female participation in their Board of Directors, with some exceptions.
With the entry into force of the new Law 39/2022 on Sport, the balanced composition criterion (60%-40%) has been extended to other bodies. In other words, as of 2022, this criterion must be respected for the composition of the Board of Directors, the Economic Control Commission, the Disciplinary Bodies, the Disciplinary Committee and the Administrative Court of Sport.
