Improving the lives of citizens by reinforcing human rights, democracy and rule of law is the main goal of the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.

Launched in 2020, the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme is implemented in close co-ordination with the authorities of five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), combining regional approach with fine-tuned bilateral activities.

Seminar for representatives of  Kazakhstan - raising awareness on Council of Europe conventions

On 23-25 May 2022, representatives of public authorities of Kazakhstan expanded their knowledge on the Council of Europe conventions system during a 3-day training seminar in Strasbourg (France) in the Council of Europe headquarters.

The visit was organised in the framework of the Action “Facilitating the creation of a common legal space between Europe and Central Asia and enhancing human rights protection” within the joint European Union – Council of Europe Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023. 

Representatives of Kazakhstan had a range of exchanges and meetings with the Secretariat of the Council of Europe allowing a better understanding of the Council of Europe conventions system as well as the commitments, benefits and implications for the national system.

Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023 is a joint initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
