Five Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) visited the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan to discuss ongoing activities and country-specific initiatives in the field of non-discrimination in Armenia. This included an in-depth exploration of the project “Promoting equality and non-discrimination in Armenia” with a particular focus on its youth engagement component, aimed at fostering equality and tolerance.
Prior to this meeting, the YEAs from Armenia took part in the cross-regional training sessions on methods to effectively address hate speech and discrimination by promoting equality and creating counter-narratives to hatred, organised in 2023 and 2024.
The YEAs acknowledged that the skills acquired through those training sessions contributed to their understanding of diversity and inclusion concepts. They also emphasised the significance of peer-to-peer exchange opportunities, in particular boosting exchanges between youth from the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkan regions. Discussions was also focused on enhancing synergies and coordination to advance non-discrimination among youth and within local communities, with YEAs confirming their willingness to continue activism and further work on promoting equality and diversity in their society.
