Note that some practices and resources are cross-sectorial and can appear more than once.
Two extra hours of sports at school (secondary education)
Organisation responsible:
French Ministry for Sports
Strategic field:
☒ Gender equality in participation (grassroots or elite sport)
Type of resource/practice:
☒ Educational tools (training activities, curricula, educational materials, etc.)
Target group(s):
☒ Children and specifically girls at primary and secondary schools
Brief desciption of the resource/practice:
The “Pass'Sport” scheme, launched in 2021, and the “2 extra hours of sports at school” program, launched in 2023, are designed to bring sporting activities closer to children and young people (aged 6-18) who are far removed from sport - particularly girls and people with disabilities. The 2 extra hours program in secondary schools is one of those in which girls are particularly targeted. By the end of 2023, 44% of 2 extra hours’ beneficiaries were girls (particularly first-timers, i.e. young people who are enrolled neither in a sports club nor in the school sports association). Nearly 49% of first-timers are girls.
