The South Neighbourhood Anti-Corruption Project (SNAC 2) organised a training workshop on Open Source Internet Investigation (OSINT) for the Palestinian authorities on 23-27 April 2017 in Ramallah.
This first capacity building activity, implemented through the South Programme II, falls within the framework of the Neighbourhood Co-operation Priorities with Palestine*, adopted by the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers in September 2016. As such, the OSINT course is based on a programme developed specifically for the Palestinian professionals working in the fight against corruption and economic crime.
The workshop had within its participants 17 officials who advanced their technical skills by exploring tools and methodologies for an optimal use of open internet data for corruption investigations. Participants examined advanced search features of both common and less popular search engines coupled with ways to gather intelligence from social networks, media and the dark net.
