Moroccan, Tunisian and Jordanian representatives of prison and probation services joined their European counterparts and delegates of international organisations such as the United Nations and EuroPris at the 22nd Conference of Directors of Prison and Probation Services on 20-21 June 2017 in Lillestrøm (Norway). The central theme of the Conference was “Staff Recruitment, Training and Development in the 21st Century”.
Through a series of plenary and working group sessions, participants exchanged knowledge and good practices for attracting, recruiting, developing and retaining well-trained staff to ensure the proper management of prison and probation institutions. An example of some key reflections links the importance of the right selection and development of professionals with a high sense of personal integrity and sensitivity to ensure positive changes in offenders.
