Building policies for diversity management: the Council of Europe Intercultural Cities Network opens up to Morocco

The Council of Europe Intercultural Cities Coordinators (ICC) network held a meeting in Lisbon on 14-15 September 2015, which saw, for the first time since the creation of ICC, the participation of a Moroccan delegation. As part of the South Programme II initiatives, Moroccan participation to this and consequent peer learning ICC initiatives aims ultimately at facilitating the prospective introduction of intercultural cities concept in Morocco.

The Lisbon meeting helped to enhance local ICC experts’ understanding of the Intercultural cities’ models of migrant inclusion and diversity management as well as to exchange information on the tools used to support intercultural cities in developing inclusion strategies.

Beside the bilateral and multilateral exchanges, discussions also helped identify themes with potential to interest future ICC member cities from Morocco.
