Judges in Georgia to follow the second HELP course launched in the country: Reasoning of Criminal Judgments in Georgia

In cooperation with the High School of Justice of Georgia, the Council of Europe HELP course Reasoning of Criminal Judgements is launched for a second time and will be implemented for a period of seven weeks in Georgian under this European Union-Council of Europe action.

This HELP course is developed in an interactive way, composed of seven different modules including right to a fair trial and reasoning of criminal judgments. These topics in the modules are explored in a practical way, by using presentations, interactive screens, knowledge checks and a case study. Apart from an adaptation of the course to the Georgian legal context, two national tutors will be supervising a distance learning of around 30 Georgian judges. The activity is aimed to strengthen general application of the European Convention on Human Rights standards by the national courts and ensure relevant referencing to the judgments and case-law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The launch of this course is organised under the European Union-Council of Europe joint project project "Supporting the criminal justice reforms - tackling criminal aspects of the judicial reforms in Georgia", funded by the European Union within the framework of Partnership for Good Governance programme.
