The European Union, the Council of Europe, and Ukrainian partners and beneficiaries have emphasised the importance of the Partnership for Good Governance programme in supporting the implementation of the national reform agenda in line with European standards as well as in contributing to the EU accession process at the third local steering committee meeting for Ukraine. Thanks to its flexible, demand-driven approach and the strong commitment of all stakeholders and beneficiaries, the Programme was able to adapt to the country’s needs in a timely manner, particularly during these challenging times.
During the meeting, the progress and results from three country-specific projects in areas of constitutional justice, anti-money laundering and combating hate speech were presented. The programme’s regional projects were also recognised for their added value in addressing economic crime, equality and non-discrimination, and women’s access to justice, complementing the country-specific projects' work. The strong synergies and cross-fertilisation work with other joint programmes, such as the EU and Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye, especially in the field of equality and non-discrimination were also acknowledged. The meeting concluded with an agreement on a set of priorities for 2025, engaging public authorities and civil society organisations.
The Partnership for Good Governance provides targeted support to Ukraine, facilitating progress in key areas of governance. This support builds on the achievements of previous phases of the EU and Council of Europe joint programme.
