Brief description of the practice: Up till now in 2018, VRT has already broadcast 14 live road cycle races for women. Of these, three were produced by VRT’s own means. This includes, as top of the bill, the world-famous “Ronde van Vlaanderen” for women, which was broadcast in its entirety and separately from the men’s race broadcast. During the first European Championships 2018, women’s races were broadcast six hours per day, having in mind the explicit target to achieve a 50/50 balance in the coverage of female athletes.
