Prison staff accredited for human-rights training programmes in Bosnia and Herzegovina

A group of core prison staff trainers is undergoing accreditation to deliver human rights based training programmes on 14-15 March 2018 in Mostar. The concept is based on the proceedings of the Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey Action in Bosnia and Herzegovina - ''Enhancing human rights of detained and sentenced persons''.

This internal accreditation scheme is designed and implemented in close coordination and cooperation with Ministries of Justice. It is a clear commitment of the local senior policy makers and prison professionals to embedding human rights even further in the professional development training programmes of prison staff across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 10-member strong core prison staff training team, with this accreditation, becomes the centre of excellence and a source of original competence for delivering human rights based training. This, as a result, ensures equality in treatment of prison population in general, equal opportunities for professional development of peers in prisons and, perhaps most of all, benefits the standardisation of interactive and dynamic training programmes shared by all three complementary and intertwined prison jurisdictions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
