Gyumri Looking for Next Steps

On 18 April 2017, the last official COMUS Local Stakeholders Group meeting was held at “Emili Aregak” Support and Resource Center for People with Disabilities of Gyumri. During the meeting Gyumri PIU team presented the project outcomes, in particular PIU Manager Hovhannes Sahakyan reported on Project Phase, National Coordinator Gohar Grigoryan presented Pilot Town Portfolio and Project Officer Sarhat Petrosyan presented the results of the Self Evaluation/Reflection survey.

LSG Members expressed their expectations on recent developments “Kumayri Revival” project which is a historic district rehabilitation in old Gyumri initiated by the Prime Minister of Armenia, meantime discussing the risks of large investment in a socially vulnerable town. In this regard, the Chief Architect of Gyumri Mr. Henrik Gasparyan suggested trying to integrate selected project Urban Heritage Center into “Kumayri Revival” which was welcome by the other LSG members.

At the end of the meeting participants were optimistic that COMUS brought a new perspective to the town and they look forward to see COMUS shared vision being realized in Gyumri during next few years.
