COMUS Project Phase starts in Gyumri

On 29 June 2016 the first meeting of the Local Stakeholder Group of COMUS Project took place at Shirak Center NGO’s headquarter. The group that was extended with some new members validated the revised Reference Plan and sent it for consideration to Elders’ Council of Gyumi.

During the meeting Gyumri LSG selected 5 actions from 17 proposed actions in the Reference Plan for further detailed considerations. The selection was made through ranked voting based on feasibility and impact of actions. Based on local needs during the next month COMUS Gyumri PIU will carry on preliminary technical rehabilitation of some historic areas of “Kumayri” Historic Reserve (“Kabardinka” Historical District, 17 Shiraz Street Historical Building and district located within Gorky-Abovyan-Rustaveli-Varpetats street) and also renewal of public green zones (“Lich” and “Mayr Hayastan - Sev Berd” recreation areas).

The PIU will make an open call for experts that can join the efforts for this assessment work, whose results will be reported back to Gyumri LSG in September 2016.
