Project of the Mix General and Vocational Secondary School "Taki Daskalo":
Regional support for inclusive education in South East Europe
Project specific objectives:
- To improve teachers competences and skills for work with vulnerable groups of pupils;
- To raise pupils’and parents’ awareness;
- To raise awareness in the local community;
- To strengthen cooperation: school-family-community;
- To promote interactive teaching and cooperative learning;
- To improve the quality of work facilities.
Project’s main activities:
Training for teachers
- Detecting and working with gifted and talented pupils
Two trainings for 40 participants are planned in October. The training encompasses following modules:- - Detecting, identification, and working with talented and gifted pupils
- - Creating curriculla for working with gifted and talented pupils
- - Mentorship for talented and gifted pupils
- - Professional development of teaching staff for work with talented and gifted pupils
- - Teacher and talented and gifted pupils
- - The gifted and talented pupils’motivation
- - Consultation with the talented and gifted ones
- - Psychological and pedagogical basis of learning and talented and gifted pupils
- Identification of pupils’ diagnosis and working on each diagnosis separately
Two trainings for 40 participants are planned in November. The trainings encompasses pupils with difficulties in learning in regular high schools and those with Down syndrome, Autism, intellectual disability, Cerebral Palsy, dyslexia, stuttering, etc.
Joint workshops with teachers, parents, and pupils:
- Seven workshops for 15 teachers, parents or pupils, two times a month (October 2014 - June 2015), with themes:
- - What are we like, and what are the others like? (October);
- - Frontally positioned circles (November);
- - A bully, a victim and an observer (December);
- - Mediation (February);
- - More or less (March);
- - Children should be looked at and listened to (April);
- - Green activity (May).
Study trips
- A trip to monastery in Slepce village and Smilevo village (40 pupils, 5 parents and 5 teachers)
- An excursion to the National Park Pelister (40 pupils, 5 parents and 5 teachers in charge);
- A trip to Ohrid and Struga, visit to cultural and historical sights of Ohrid and Struga (40 pupils, 5 parents and teachers);
- A visit to a museum in Bitola: (45 pupils, 5 parents and teachers in charge);
- Two sports events visits in April and May will be organized. 50 pupils are going to attend with the teachers in charge;
- A visit to the city library.
Raising awareness
- Three public lectures on inclusive education in the Centre of Culture in Bitola.
- - Inclusion in the educational process (November),
- - Inclusive puzzle (March),
- - Inclusion benefits and a step away from the employment in the system (May).
- A theatre play
Classroom - An open world for everyone will be adapted and equipped with a goal to improve working conditions.
Exchange of good practices: Seven teachers will visit Mixed VET School “Ivan Goran Kovačić” in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.
Final manifestation: Awards and exhibitions; Literature and Art competitions
