Different pedagogical approaches in inclusive education
Specific project’s objectives
- To introduce pupils and teachers with pedagogical approach of “Waldorf”, school in Zagreb, through training and peer learning;
- To enable teachers, pupils and parents to create an inclusive environment in the school;
- To create and equip “inclusive classroom” for workshops and lectures for pupils, parents and local community;
- To raise knowledge on inclusion and the project in the local community.
Project’s main activities:
Peer learning and training in the Waldorf primary school in Zagreb:
During two day visit, a group of 24 pupils and 5 teachers will learn how to implement some of the basic approaches of Waldorf pedagogy in everyday teaching and learning practices. The Waldorf school will prepare a range of activities for pupils and teachers, such as workshops on importance of diversity and respect for all language learning.
Activities of the pupils:
- Pupils will present experiences from Waldorf school
- to the rest of the pupils in the school;
- To Pupils’ council of Split Dalmatia county: 1 pupil representative from each secondary school in Splits –Dalmatian county; all together 35 pupils will participate at the presentation.
- Workshops on embracing diversities, given by representatives of the Pupils’ Council
Workshops for school teachers and expert teaching staff
- Workshop on Waldorf pedagogy and peer learning experience in this school, organised by the Pupils’ Council
- Lecture for the teaching staff, pupils and parents held in the library
- Lecture Individualization in teaching held by psychologist Boris Jokić for teaching staff. The lecture will be organized in March 2015, in newly equipped inclusive classroom.
- Making an inclusive school possible – education for 48 teachers, 710 pupils and 24 parents, members of Parent’s Council. In two months, 24 pupils will educate other pupils during teacher - pupils’ weekly meeting and teachers on Teacher’s Council meeting. The presentation will take place with the assistance of school pedagogues.
Equipping inclusive classroom:
- Purchasing additional and necessary equipment
- - for lectures,
- - workshops and successful learning,
- - for designing and equipping the inclusive classroom as a central place for teachers, pupils and parents,
- - for promoting inclusive policy on the school level.
Activities for parents:
Workshops for parents with pupils as main lecturers in January and February 2014. Pupils will present everything that has been done so far in the field of inclusive education, and what are the new practices introduced in their school as a joint effort of teachers and pupils. One parent from each class, in total 24, will be invited to participate in this workshop.
Final project event and dissemination of the project results:
Presentation for parents, local community and general public, in the city library ‘Marko Marulić’ on:
- - all that has been done in the project
- - former and new inclusive practices the school is planning to implement.
This activity will be covered by the media (newspapers, TV, radio). Its aim is to raise awareness on inclusive education, to encourage other schools in Split – Dalmatian county to think about their inclusive policy.
Project’s target groups
- Direct beneficiaries: pupils at the age 15-18 (24 pupils from the Pupils’ Council), 5 teachers (through lectures), parents, local community, general public (around 120 participants at the final project event)
- Indirect beneficiaries: the local community, parents, the rest of the student body, 5 representatives of local community, 24 parents, 710 pupils
