Ensuring legal redress to hate speech and hate crime in line with European standards

80 legal professionals from the Republic of Moldova participated in a two-day seminar, organisaed in co-operation with the National Institute of Justice. The seminar aimed at promoting the experience of the involved actors on addressing hate speech and discrimination and discuss possible improvements to legal redress responses.

The seminar focused on European standards in addressing hate speech and hate crimes, based on the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights and covered topics relevant to the identification of prejudice and stereotypes, as well as those relating to the various aspects relevant for the work with victims of hate speech.

Participants to this event highlighted the importance of further dialogue involving all professionals dealing with combating and prevention of hate speech and discrimination, as an important step forward for improving practice in this field.


This event is part of the European Union and Council of Europe joint programme “Partnership for Good Governance”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in the framework of the project “Combating discrimination, hate speech and hate crimes in the Republic of Moldova”.
