Celebrating Europe Day in Kutaisi: citizens test their knowledge of Europe and equality

On the occasion of Europe Day in Kutaisi, the Council of Europe joined the nationwide celebrations, engaging hundreds of citizens in interactive activities that combined learning and fun. Building on the success of previous events in Tbilisi and Batumi, the Kutaisi celebration focused on promoting European values, equality, and active citizenship through open dialogue and public participation.

Visitors of the Council of Europe stand took part in interactive quizzes on the European Union, the Council of Europe, and equality, with more than 130 participants testing their knowledge and enthusiasm for Europe. The three quiz versions – two in Georgian and one in English – revealed strong awareness of EU history, symbols, and values, while also highlighting the need to further strengthen understanding of the distinct role of the Council of Europe.

The activity generated great enthusiasm, with participants receiving symbolic prizes and engaging in discussions about Europe’s values of peace, human rights, and equality

The Kutaisi Europe Day event showcased how interactive public initiatives can foster understanding of European institutions and promote inclusion and dialogue among citizens. The Council of Europe team, worked closely with Equality Ambassadors and Young European Ambassadors to make the activities accessible and engaging for all age groups.

These events are part of the European Union and Council of Europe joint programme “Partnership for Good Governance”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in the framework of the project “Combating Hate Speech in Georgia’’.
