A roundtable on European judicial values and interinstitutional dialogue was carried out in the framework of the European Day of Justice in Chișinău, on 27 October 2025.
The event brought together members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), its evaluation and disciplinary boards, judicial inspectors, and court presidents from all levels of national jurisdictions.
Sergiu Caraman, President of the SCM, presented the main ongoing judicial reforms, current challenges of the justice system, and underlined the importance of fostering a modern judicial culture based on professionalism, ethics, and accountability.
The discussions focused on the SCM’s strategic priorities and their alignment with the work of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ). Participants exchanged good practices in judicial administration and explored ways to enhance cooperation, transparency, and communication, both internal and external. They also emphasized the importance of placing court users at the centre of the justice system.
Members of the judicial community expressed strong interest in continuing thematic discussions within the judiciary on CEPEJ tools and reaffirmed the commitment to advancing their practical implementation in Moldova.
This activity has been organised within the framework of the Project “Support to further modernisation of court management in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance III (2023-2027).
