The second webinar on raising awareness of violence against women under the Council of Europe’s Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, known as the Istanbul Convention, took place on 8 June 2021.
Raising awareness of violence against women is the theme of the Article 13 of the Istanbul Convention which talks about how states can prevent violence against women by joining forces with other actors, especially women’s organisations to increase understanding of the different forms and consequences of violence against women. The aim of this webinar was to help understand what measures countries should take under this Article once they join the Istanbul Convention.
The webinar is a part of a series of events on specific articles of the convention, and will be followed later in the year by two more sessions on the following articles:
- ‘Domestic and Sexual Violence Perpetrator Programmes: Article 16 of the Istanbul Convention’
- ‘Emergency Barring Orders in Situations of Domestic Violence: Article 52 of the Istanbul Convention’
This activity is carried out under the project “Raising awareness of the Istanbul Convention and other gender equality standards in Azerbaijan”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance II.
