The Council of Europe delivered four consecutive training sessions on terrorism financing risks in the non-profit sector to Jordanian authorities and representatives of non-profit organizations (NPOs) from 29 October to 2 November 2017 in Amman.
The first session targeting the law enforcement authorities and the financial intelligence unit has developed their knowledge of investigative and analytical techniques used for the identification of financing terrorism-related activity in the non-profit sector. This was followed by a session, which familiarised representatives of financial institutions with red flags for effective identification of suspicious transactions across NPOs. Members of the NPO sector were also trained on inspections techniques to identify terrorism financing risk. The capacity building programme was concluded with an awareness-raising workshop which showed NPO representatives and their associations how to identify, prevent and block terrorism financing through their activities.
