What is the Istanbul Convention? Find out more in our leaflet now available in Azerbaijani

A leaflet explaining the Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) is now available in Azerbaijani.

Find out more about what is the purpose of the Istanbul Convention, what makes it so ground-breaking, what types violence it covers, and what the convention requires countries to do. Although Azerbaijan has not yet signed the Istanbul Convention, this translation is part of a series of activities to raise awareness of this interantional treaty in Azerbaijan.

The European Union and Council of Europe’s Partnership for Good Governance (PGGII) launched the action “Raising awareness of the Istanbul Convention and other gender equality standards in Azerbaijan” to support the Azerbaijani authorities to sign the Istanbul Convention, to align its legislation and policies with international standards, and ultimately, to help prevent and combat violence agaisnt women and domestic violence in Azerbaijan.
