Training Programme for Judges and Assistants of Judges on Legal drafting of the Judicial Decisions

Legal drafting of judicial decisions was the key topic of a two-day training organised on 23-24 February 2021, in the framework of the project “Support to the judicial reform – enhancing the independence and professionalism of the judiciary in Armenia”.

Seventeen national judges and assistants of judges, representing civil and administrative courts of different instances participated in the training programme. The content of the training was based on the CoE standards with a particular emphasis on CoE documents on the quality of justice, as developed by various CoE bodies, including the CEPEJ and the CCJE. Central to the discussion was the application of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights by the national judges.

The training was led by Oleksandr Ovchynnykov who has seven years of working experience as a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights and the Department for the execution of judgments of that Court.

This event was organised in the framework of the project “ Support to the judicial reform – enhancing the independence and professionalism of the judiciary in Armenia,” funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance II (2019-2022).
